IoT-Based Smart Home Process Management Using a Workflow Approach

Résumé

Evolution of the Internet of Things is accompanied by automated processes based on BPM. In this context, one of the main problems is to adapt smart objects to cooperate with each other and with applications in order to generate intelligent and automated decisions. BPMN, is the most suitable means for business process modeling, but BPMN operators have limitations for managing IoT semantic data and the flow generated by connected objects. This article presents an architecture adapted to smart homes and BPM, moreover, it presents the proposal of a GIPSIT operator that manages the semantic data of IoT and solves the problems raised by existing operators. The authors thus contribute through a GIPSIT-based SPM platform, in order to simulate intelligent cooperation between objects and remotely between user and objects via Internet to provide smart assistance to patients living in connected environments.
