Résumé

In this study, the new system known as Arcan-Mines apparatus were used for assessing the out-of-plane shear modulus of short glass fibre reinforced polyamide 6. This method gives a good reliability in comparison with traditional single lap shear test due to an applied pure shear stress and resolving stress concentration problem at free surface. Image correlation technique and extensometer were used for measuring strains and mechanical properties fields during application of the load. The out-of-plane shear modulus obtained experimentally has been compared with micromechanical models in order to assess their reliability. We found that Arcan-Mines test is able to determine pure shear properties.
