Ice-Jam Flooding of Lena River in the Municipal District of Yakutsk
Заторные наводнения на реке лена на территории городского округа Г. Якутск
Résumé
In the last years of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century, the number of flooding and ice-flooding impacting the populated areas of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) has significantly increased. This present research analyses the long-term hydrological data and the features of the ice drift on the average Lena for the period 1990 to 2016 with the Landsat 5 TM, Landsat 8 OLI and Sentinel 2 MSI remote sensing data. The best methodology for the recognition, extraction and mapping of the water flooding is based on the MNDWI water index. MNDWI water index was used to map the flood areas and limits from Tabaginsky cape to Kangalassky cape.
