The impact of merging activities in supply chain under the guaranteed service model

Résumé

In this paper, we study the performance of a serial multi-echelon supply chain managed according to the guaranteed service model when merging two related stages. We find that we can improve supply chain performance by implementing this collaborative mechanism. We precise some interesting properties under which the total cost of detention reduces after merging. These results are also suitable for the assembly supply chain.
