Résumé

Studies on entrepreneurial ecosystem have favored static readings, giving a representation at a given moment. Some have tried to take into account historical dimensions; however the process appears very often in the background. The objective of this article is to propose a reading of the entrepreneurial ecosystem in terms of path dependency. We believe that past choices and actions condition the evolution of the entrepreneurial ecosystem, as well as critical events that are likely to reorient these trajectories. If there is a form of determinism, there is still the possibility for entrepreneurial ecosystem actors to develop strategies to reorient these trajectories. The other purpose of this article is to highlight the ecosystem strategies implemented by the actors. From a theoretical point of view, the challenge is to cross a conceptual approach in terms of entrepreneurial ecosystems and an evolutionist reading in terms of path dependency. From an empirical point of view, a comparative study of two metropolises will allow us to show how, in two different contexts, can emerge and be developed entrepreneurial ecosystem who have benefited from the same French Tech labelling.
