Abstract
Wendy Mackay is a Research Director at INRIA Saclay-Île-de-France where she founded and directs the ExSitu research group in Human-Computer Interaction. She is a former chair of CHI. Mackay discusses the principles of discoverability, appropriability and how they relate to co-adaptation for interaction designers. The importance is emphasised of evaluating what people actually do with technology, as opposed to what they were supposed to do with it.
