High gain large scan angle antennas : from multi satellite reception to high rate wireless networks and automotive radars

Résumé

This paper is a synthesis of the studies carried out in the field of low-cost high-gain wide angle scanning antennas. These antennas are of great interest for applications such as terrestrial antennas for multimedia using satellite links, base station antennas for high rate wireless systems as LMDS or HiperLAN networks and antennas for AICC automotive radars. Multisatellite reception at 12GHz concerning the reflector system is presented. These results have been extended to systems having the same radiation pattern requirements at millimeter wavelengths. Compact low-cost antennas based on lenses and reflectors and made in foam technology have been explored for automotive radars. New results concerning artificial dielectric lenses, which are made of parallel metallic plates separated by foam are presented.
