Experimental evidence of gain-through-loss mechanism in passive fiber ring cavities : toward tunable frequency comb generation

Abstract

We experimentally demonstrate a novel method based on the gain-through-losses modulation instability process to generate frequency combs with tunable repetition rate in a normal dispersion externally driven passive fibre resonator.
