A Reactionary Dimension in Progressive Revolutionary Theories? The Case of James Connolly's Socialism Founded on the Re-Conversion of Ireland to the Celtic System of Common Ownership

Résumé

Through the idea dear to the Marxist theorist of Irish origin, James Connolly (1868-1916), of converting Ireland back to the common property system of the Celtic era, this article questions the paradoxical reactionary nature of certain revolutionary and progressive theories, from the Enlightenment to the present day. In doing so, this analysis also seeks to dissociate the myth from historical reality about the use of Celtic Ireland in Connolly's revolutionary designs.
