Spintronic sensors for NMR and MRI

Abstract

Giant magnetoresistive sensors (GMR) and tunnel magnetoresistive sensors (TMR) can be efficiently used to detect weak magnetic signals corresponding to the field created by the precession of nuclear spins. In this paper, we present two experiments with their advantages and limitations. The first one is Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy at micron scale using magnetoresistive sensors and the second is very low field Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) using mixed sensors which is a combination of magnetoresistive sensors and superconducting loops.
