Frozen Shuffle Update in Simple Geometries: A First Step to Simulate Pedestrians

Abstract

We introduce a new type of update for cellular automata representing pedestrian traffic on a lattice. We investigate this update analytically and by Monte-Carlo simulations on a simple model. We are able to predict the fundamental diagram, and phase diagrams in several geometries.
