Strain rate sensitivity of germanium-selenium glasses

Sensibilité au taux de déformation des verres de chalcogénures au Ge-Se

Abstract

As describe in a previous publication of Su and al. [Su2013], we determine by constant strain rate indentation path the power law’s creep exponent of low T g binary chalcogenide glasses (Se and Ge-Se). We made this choice of composition for the various atomic structures taken by Ge-Se glasses when the composition is modified. Tests have been performed at room temperature (25 ± 0.5 ̊C). Results gives a good agreement with the literature for the selenium sample whereas results over Ge-Se glasses leads to link creep behavior and atomic glass structure. Furthermore, analysis of atomic force microscopy indentation pictures allowed us to identify a link between glass composition and strain rate sensibility. The most sensitive glass compositions are near mechanical percolation threshold composition.
