Cognitive approach to decision making and practical tools
Résumé
Since the 70's decision making is understood as the issue of a pro- cess. Among some complementary approaches the search for a dominance struc- ture (Montgomery, 1983) has been implemented, under the name of the Moving Basis Heuristic, mbh, (Barth¶elemy and Mullet, 1986). The mbh allows to compute the ̄nal states of a decision process and to extract some possible decision rules. In a ̄rst part we review some evidence about decision making as information processing and describe the mbh. In the second we shall discuss induced tools of rules extraction. Last we discuss about the updating a rules base. The ̄rst part will be anchored within cognitive psychology. The two others will refer to real practical applications (banking, industrial process control)
