              <p>Un verrou technologique des missions spatiales de longue durée utilisant une propulsion cryogéniqueest l’auto-pressurisation des réservoirs d’ergols, soumis au rayonnement solaire direct ou à des entréesthermiques. Cette auto-pressurisation doit être contrôlée pour assurer la pérennité de la mission, touten minimisant la perte d’ergols associée au contrôle. La méthode Thermodynamic Venting System(TVS) prélève une fraction liquide dans le réservoir, la refroidit dans un échangeur de chaleur puisla réinjecte dans le réservoir sous forme d’un spray sous-refroidi. Sous l’effet de l’injection, lavapeur condense, le bain liquide se déstratifie et la pression baisse. Le dispositif est étudié, à find’optimisation, à la fois expérimentalement sur un banc réalisé en utilisant un fluide de similitude(Novec 1230) et numériquement grâce à un solveur combinant compressibilité artificielle, méthodeVOF pour le suivi d’interface et prise en compte du transfert de masse à l’interface liquide / vapeurvia un bilan thermique.</p>

              <p>A technological barrier for long duration space missions using cryogenic propulsion is the controlof propellant tank self-pressurization. Since the liquid propellant submitted to solar fluxes tends tovaporize, the pressure rise must be controlled to prevent mission failure. The Thermodynamic VentSystem (TVS) control strategy pumps some liquid propellant from the tank, cools it down through aheat exchanger and re-injects it as a sub-cooled spray inside the tank. The tank pressure drops due tovapor condensation and liquid bath destratification. The TVS strategy is studied both experimentallyusing an on-ground set up that works with a surrogate fluid (Novec1230 by 3M) and numericallywith a solver combining artificial compressibility, a VOF approach for interface tracking and a sharpinterface phase change model.</p>
