Development of an experimental setup in order to measure space charges in dielectric liquids
Résumé
When a liquid is put into contact with a solid, charges appear at the interface solid/liquid, resulting in the formation of an Electrical Double Layer (EDL). Many studies have been made to measure the EDL charge, but its theoretical distribution has not been confirmed experimentally yet, as so far there has been no method allowing direct measurement of space charge profiles in dielectric liquids. In this work, we present a measurement bench designed and developed to measure space charges in liquid samples using the principle of the Thermal Step Method. Results obtained on cyclohexane in liquid and solidified state are shown and commented.
