EULER-EULER MODELLING OF THE INTERACTION OF A GAS-PARTICLE MIXTURE WITH A DETACHED SHOCK

Résumé

This work deals with the interaction of a mist of solid particles and a stationary detached shock wave. Experiments over a 3 inches sphere were done in the 70's at the Boeing Hypersonic Wind Tunnel [1]. A very strong modification of the detached shock was observed. The aim of the present work was to check the capability of numerical simulations based on an Euler-Euler approach to reproduce this behavior. Comparisons with Hulin and Znaty [2] simulations (performed with an Eulerian-Lagrangian approach) have been carried out and the results are discussed.
