Front Cover: Controlling the Structures of Lanthanide Complexes in Self-Assemblies with Tripodal Ligands (Eur. J. Inorg. Chem. 10/2018)
Résumé
The Front Cover shows the self‐assembly of supramolecular architectures from elemental building blocks. The natural environment highlights the spontaneous character of complex formation. The components in the “reservoir” at the bottom (i.e. various tripodal ligands and lanthanide cations) interact in a specific way to form well‐defined supramolecular complexes coming out of the springs. The selection of appropriate ligands from the mixture is governed by thermodynamic principles for providing the most stable mono‐ or polynuclear helicates. More information can be found in the Microreview by J. Hamacek and A. Vuillamy. For more on the story behind the cover research, see the Cover Profile.
