Blood/Text Circulation: the Birth of a New Metaphor
Résumé
This chapter draws a parallel between the history of book edition and the history of blood transfusion in Bram Stoker's Dracula. The aim is to show how Stoker's novel addresses progress in these two fields at the turn of the XXth century, leading to the termination of the vampire and its powers on both humans and texts. This analysis is carried out through the tools of pragmatics, narratology and the linguistics of enunciation.
