An improved starting point for Newton's method applied to vector potential formulation solving 3D nonlinear magnetostatic problems

Résumé

In this paper, we propose a new starting point for the Newton method applied to vector potential formulation of nonlinear magnetostatic problems. We base our developments on a well-posed condition of initial solution. Implementation into the Code Carmel [1] is invoked and the benchmark problem Team Workshop 13 is investigated. The numerical results show that with our proposed strategy, the convergence rate of the Newton method is improved, and thus the number of iterations is reduced.
