Der andere Weg zur Wahrheit: Jesusdeutungen bei Franz Rosenzweig und im Umfeld des Frankfurter Jüdischen Lehrhauses
Résumé
This article deals with Franz Rosenzweig’s examination of Jesus as an historical figure. In this context two texts are put under scrutiny: “Atheistic Theology” (1914) and The Star of Redemption (1921). In addition to that comes an analysis of a couple of letters which Rosenzweig wrote to Margrit and Eugen Rosenstock between 1917 and 1929 and an Essay by Eduard Strauss which is based on a lecture he gave at the Jewish Lehrhaus in Frankfort. This selection aims at showing how the analysis of Jesus takes place within the theological debate about his historical dimension. Rosenzweig, Buber, Strauss and other Jewish thinkers takes a stand in this debate, when they deal with Jesus’ status. This inquiry has also to be imbedded in the context of the relationship between Christians and Jews in general and moreover in Rosenzweig’s effort to create a genuine Jewish-Christian dialogue.
