Numerical simulation of the helium dispersion in a semi-confined air-filled cavity
Résumé
In hydrogen safety studies, the significant disagreement concerning the concentration field between experimental and numerical results at low injection flow rates proves the need of detailed reference data for the assessment of turbulence models.
This work deals with the convection of a binary mixture of helium-air in an isothermal and isobar 2D enclosure with a finite-volume code. The injection conditions lie in the buoyancy-dominated regime.
We aim at reproducing different regimes concerning the concentration build-up in the enclosure. The dependency of the flow characteristics (stratification, initial front velocity) on the Grashof and injection Richardson numbers will be analyzed.
