Effect of 5 week training period on the glycemic and insulinemic response to a cereal meal in Standardbreds

In healthy Standardbreds, a 5 week period of training is associated with a decreased glucose response to an oat challenge test, even after 6 days of inactivity. This suggests a more permanent increase in insulin sensitivity.
