Preservation of Organic Molecules in Mars-Analog Samples Using Pyrolysis and Derivatization GCMS Experiments from the SAM Instrument

Résumé

This ongoing work will helpusiden-tify the MTBSTFA by-products present in the SAM chromatograms and the high molecular derivatives de-tected in the last OG run.Theinvestigationwill also en-able a better minerals target selectionfor the preserva-tion of organic molecules on Mars and help the identifi-cation ofthe precursors of the organics detected on Mars. These experiments willalso be helpful to better understand the limits and biases of the flight-like exper-iments to prepare th efuture analyses and the best pyrol-ysis and derivatization procedures to be done withthe SAM andMOMA pyro-GCMS instruments
