Gridless calibration of distorted visual sensors

Résumé

A new methodology is developed that simplifies the calibration process while optimizing the accuracy of the deformation measurements. Using general, 3D motions of a target, the distortion field is determined and all pinhole camera parameters are estimated without a priori knowledge of the motions. Experimental results demonstrate the improvement in calibration accuracy of our methodology, particularly with complex imaging systems such as a stereo-microscope or a scanning electron microscope.
