NHK, Taisai, CNRS : une collaboration franco-japonaise à la restitution 3D de la ville d'Aï Khanoum en Afghanistan
Résumé
Thanks to the initiative of Mr Kikuchi, producer of a TV series on the Japanese channel NHK, in 2002 a team from the French Centre de la recherche scientifique (CNRS-ENS UMR 8546) had the opportunity to participate in a 3D reconstruction of the town of Ai Khanum. This reconstruction was shown in the second episode of the series “Eurasian Empires”, “The illusive Alexandrias” on Japanese TV in June 2003 and on French TV in December 2004. This experience was extremely enriching for us as it led us to re-examine, in a new light, the documentation we compiled during excavations between 1964 and 1978. O. Ishisawa (from the Taisei Corporation) used 3D-Studio Max software. The 3D images thus produced, although they were only virtual, completely changed the view we had of the town of Ai Khanum, and this in spite of our remaining cautious and accepting that they only provide us with working hypotheses.
