P. Bigot's Plan of Rome and Virtual Reconstruction
Le "Plan de Rome" de P.Bigot et la reconstitution virtuelle de la Rome du IVe siècle
Résumé
The Plan of Rome is a large plaster model of nearly 70 sqm which represents ancient Rome at the time of the emperor Constantine (IVth
C. A.D.). Classified in the Inventory of Historical Monuments, it is the work of Norman architect Paul Bigot (1870-1942), winner of the Grand Prix of
Rome and professor at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Bequeathed to the Université de Caen and exhibited today in a central gallery at the Maison de la Recherche en Sciences Humaines, this model is the source material (starting point) for a multidisciplinary project for a virtual 3D model reconstructed in computer-generated images.
