La Rome Antique sur l'Internet
Résumé
The University of Caen in Normandy is the owner of a model of a Plan of Rome from the architect Paul Bigot representing the city under Constantine (4th century). This listed as a “historic monument”. The researchers who work on this plan are designing a three-dimensional computerised model enabling visitors to “walk about” freely. The project to virtually recreate Ancient Rome combines archaeology and new technologies. The computer model can be modified with every new discovery of historical and archaeological sciences; it will show several chronological layers of Roman urbanism and it will have the added advantage that it can be consulted at a distance, in particular with the Internet resources.
