Prototype-based Knowledge Representation of Everyday Objects

Abstract

We propose a knowledge representation based on prototype theory in order to ease human-robot interaction. A successful and well functioning interaction between users and robots becomes more and more important, since they are used more and more frequently. One example is the use in households, especially in an ageing society. It is crucial, however, that the actions taken and the solutions found by a robot have to be intuitively comprehensible for the user, particularly if he or she has not grown up with computers.
