A fifth-order air-filled SIW filter for future 5G applications

Résumé

This paper presents a fifth-order Tchebyshev bandpass filter based on air-filled substrate integrated waveguide (AFSIW) technology. The iris inductive coupling topology is chosen for filter implementation. The design concept is also introduced based on K-inverted model and Marcuvitz design flow. A comparison between the conventional dielectric-filled substrate integrated waveguide (DFSIW) and the improved AFSIW technology is presented in order to highlight the superiority in term of performance from AFSIW transmission lines. The filter has a relative bandwidth (BW) of 2.98% at 27.92 GHz. The insertion losses is smaller than -1.15 dB in the passband. This bandpass filter can be used for future 5G network or space applications.
