DG-CastoR for query packets dissemination in VANET
Résumé
Vehicular Ad hoc NETworks are currently attracting the
attention of researchers and automobile manufacturers.
Disseminating and routing messages in such environments
present big challenges due to the very high mobility and the
frequent changes of network topology. In this paper, a novel
geocast routing protocol is proposed, named DG-CastoR
protocol and especially tailored for Infotainment
applications in VANETs. It aims to build a virtual community
based on future locations prediction of the mobile nodes in
the network. We call this community a Rendez-vous group
where the nodes may meet in the near future. However, the
query is only disseminated between the nodes belonging to
the same Rendez-Vous group.
Simulation results show that, compared to multicast
protocols, DG-CastoR is a robust in managing a large
number of nodes in VANETs. It also reduces the traffic load
by avoiding the unnecessary packet flooding all over the
network.
