Transportable Hyperpolarized Metabolites
Résumé
Nuclear spin hyperpolarization by dissolution dynamic nuclear polarization (d-DNP)[1] can be used to enhance the signals of 13C-labeled metabolites by several orders of magnitude. Given the short lifetimes of hyperpolarized magnetization (typically, T1(13C) < 50 s), d-DNP must be carried out close to the NMR or MRI apparatus. Here, we introduce a concept to dramatically extend the lifetimes T1(13C) from seconds to hours or even days. The hyperpolarized sample can now be removed from the polarizer, stored and transported to remote MRI or NMR sites.
