Novel RSSI-Based Techniques for Indoor Localization

Résumé

This paper considers indoor localization based on multilateration and averaged received signal strength indicator (RSSI). We propose two approaches called three minimum distances method (TDM) and weight values adjustment method (WAM) to deal with the poor accuracy of distances deduced from RSSI. Using a practical localization system, an experimental channel model is deduced in order to assess the performance of the proposed localization algorithms in realistic conditions. Compared to non-linear least squares distance method (NLS), linear least squares (LLS) and projection onto convex sets method (POCS), simulations show that the proposed methods can achieve better accuracy.
