Providing quality of service in mobile environments with MIR (Mobile IP Reservation Protocol)
Résumé
Mobility is one of the new services that have been introduced due to the development and popularity of the Internet. However, the current Internet lacks quality of service support. The major contribution of this study is the proposal of a new protocol (MIR: Mobile IP Reservation Protocol) which provides quality of service guarantees to a mobile terminal. This protocol is an adaptation of CLEP (Control Load Ethernet Protocol) which supports mobility. The protocol is based on a distributed algorithm which allows each cell to operate separately. Moreover, RTS/CTS is not needed at the IEEE 802.11 level to achieve good performance when MIR is used.
