14th IEEE International Symposium on Network Computing and Applications (NCA 2015)

Résumé

Welcome to the 14th edition of the IEEE International Symposium on Network Computing and Applications! NCA is a well-recognized, major international forum for researchers and practitioners to present innovative, high-quality results in the analysis and assessment from a wide range of computer networks. As much as the considered systems vary from network devices and components to large scale networked systems and infrastructures, the assessment approaches ranging from empirical and experimental studies to refined mathematical modeling methods. As it is already a tradition, the conference will be located in Boston (Cambridge area), in USA. This year, we received 93 submissions from 28 countries, covering various facets of research and practice on these topics. The review and selection process followed the tradition of thoroughness and rigor of NCA. The selection process was very competitive. We accepted 24 regular papers, which means an acceptance ratio of 25.8 %. Moreover, due to high quality of the submissions we also accepted 22 additional ones as short papers. To recognize exceptional scientific quality, two papers have been selected as best papers, one of which will be the best student paper. First of all, I would like to thank all the authors who submitted their work to NCA. I believe that the reviewing process provided valuable feedback to all authors regardless of the decision to accept or reject a particular submission. I also express my deep gratitude to the 41 PC members who devoted their time and provided their expertise to ensure the quality of the reviewing and the selection process. I am also very grateful to the external reviewers for their outstanding help and assistance in the review process. PC members and reviewers provide an invaluable service to our community to make this venue the forum of choice to present solid and strong results in our field. Thank you for attending this year’s NCA. I deeply appreciate the efforts of the NCA Steering Committee Chair (Dimiter Avresky), the NCA General Chair (Anthony Theodore Chronopoulos) and the NCA Publication and Financial Chair (Alessandro Pellegrini) for their help in making NCA 2015 a great success. We expect the attendance of researchers from a wide range of fields within Network Computing and Applications. These include: Cloud Computing; Vehicular, Cellular and Sensor Networks; Big Data; Network Security; SDN; Efficient Computation and Communication; Self Adaptation and Protocols; Distributed Systems; and Theory. I hope that you will find the program intellectually stimulating and that you also reserved some extra time to enjoy the historical and cultural highlights of Boston.
