Optical fibers in nuclear reactor at high neutron and gamma fluences: structural modifications and defects
Résumé
The effects induced by high neutron and gamma fluences were investigated in optical fibers exposed inside the SCK•CEN BR2 reactor (Mol, Belgium) to a total fast (E > 1MeV) neutron fluence of 3 to 5×10^19 nfast/cm². The glass structure modifications, particularly its compaction, have been studied by the Raman spectroscopy and the induced defects were investigated through their luminescent bands.
