              <p>The assessment of some industrial security components often needs to predict theinitiation of brittle crack. A second level of security can be achieved in predicting crack arrest,especially when crack initiates in local brittle zone and extends towards tougher materialzones. In this case, one observed the so-called “pop-in” phenomenon [4], which comes fromlimited brittle crack propagation. Since brittle crack propagates at speed about 10% ofdilatational wave speed, elastic waves can be triggered, so it is necessary to investigate if theymay influence the crack advance and arrest.</p>

            <abstract xml:lang="fr">
              <p>Assurer l‘intégrité des structures et composants industriels passe par la considérationde la présence de défauts et par la détermination des conditions d’amorçage, de propagationet d’arrêt des fissures dues à la présence de ces défauts. Notre étude est motivée par laprédiction de la propagation dynamique et de l’arrêt de fissures dans les composantsindustriels de grande taille. Il s’agit d’étudier l’extension instable de ces fissures lorsqu’elless’amorcent dans des zones locales fragiles et de prédire leur arrêt dû en particulier à deszones plus tenaces. La propagation instable et limitée de fissure est associée au phénomène ditde « pop-in » [4]. Par ailleurs, ces fissures se propageant à des vitesses de l’ordre de 10% dela vitesse des ondes de pression dans le matériau, il est donc nécessaire de déterminer le rôlede la dynamique du phénomène dans la propagation et l’arrêt de ces fissures.</p>
