Caesar statuit sibi Rhenum esse transeundum: From language to choremes
Résumé
This paper presents a method for translating natural langage descriptions of spatially extended events into pictorial and iconic representations. As an illustration of the method, we describe how an excerpt of Caesar's "The Gallic wars" describing migrations and wars of Germanic peoples can be represented using choremes, which are sketch-based symbolic representations of processes used by geographers.
