Vincenzo Riccati's treatise on integration of differential equations by tractional motion (1752)

Résumé

In 1752 in Bologna, Vincenzo Riccati published a short treatise in Latin entitled De usu motus tractorii in constructione aequationum differentialium. This paper is interesting because it is the only complete theoretical work that was ever dedicated to the use of tractional motion in geometry. By use of tractional motion, it is especially possible to integrate in an exact way any differential equation.
