The socio-ecological challenge of the metropolised territories: key-notes

Résumé

The double emergence of sustainability and ecological questions inside the society and the movement of the territories to metropolitan areas during the last 30 years have become political, ideological and economic issues, tending to shape the present and the future of the territories. The missing knowledge of the metropolisation processes at the individual, territorial and globalized levels in many regions around the World has generated disparate responses in societal needs analysis, the definition of operations in territorial planning and architecture. The appropriation of ecological and environmental issues by the economic sphere during the 1990s and 2000s has transformed a social problematic into an economic object where ecological architecture is one of the avatars.
