Bit rate matching study for energy efficient optical transport network

Résumé

Energy consumption of WDM transmitter/receiver, ROADM, IP routers, EDFA, DCM ... is firstly performed. Then, considering a point to point link and a meshed network, an energy per bit consumption analysis permits to conclude which bit rate (40Gb/s, 100Gb/s or mixed line rate 40/100Gb/s) is better adapted to optimize the energy efficiency of the considered systems
