Energy Efficient Multi Channel Design for Clustered Wireless Sensor Networks

Résumé

Sensor networks usually use single channel design approach. However, the available antennas for sensor devices support multiple channels that can be used for the network design. Based on the channel conditions, we can use more than one channels for the clustered sensor network design. The channels that have better packet reception ratio for a particular environment are thus selected for network design and this design approach can improve the packet reception rate (PRR) as well as overall energy consumption of the network. But, it can enhance the design complexity for data reporting as it needs a sophisticated MAC design for synchronization. In this article, a clustered design technique for sensor networks using on an offline binary linear programming approach is proposed. It doesn’t have the overhead of MAC layer synchronization as it uses a tree based structure for data reporting.
