Lid-driven cavity highly turbulent flow subjected to high magnetic field
Résumé
In the present work a conductive fluid flow inside a two-dimensional square
domain has been studied. Different problem configurations have been studied in order to
relate the flow modification to the main dimensionless numbers, i.e. the Reynolds num-
ber and the Stuart number. Stabilized finite elements and variational multiscale approach
have been used to solve the mechanical problem, while anisotropic mesh adaptation have
been used to adapt the mesh consequently. The electromagnetic force has been considered
through an explicit scheme. This choice, common in commercial software applications,
leads to numerical instabilities when the Stuart number is high enough to induct fast
transient phenomena in the flow; consequently, a numerical study to determine the sim-
ulation parameters which guarantee convergence has been carried out.
