RQL: An SQL-like Query Language for Discovering Meaningful Rules

Résumé

The Rule Query Language (RQL) is an SQL-likepattern mining language that extends and generalizes functionaldependencies to new and unexpected rules. It brings to the dataanalysts’ desktop a convenient tool to discover logical implica-tions between attributes of the database. Such implications mayreveal data quality problems or surprising correlations betweenattributes over some part of the database. The computation ofRQL queries is based on a query rewriting technique that pushesas much processing as possible to the underlying DBMS. Thiscontribution is an attempt to bridge the gap between patternmining and databases and facilitates the use of data miningtechniques by SQL-aware analysts and students
