Conical antennas as coupling structures for microwave and infrared devices

Résumé

This paper is evoted to conical antennas considered as possible coupling structures for microwave or infrared devices. According to geometrical parameters and to the operating frequency band, the radiation properties of such structures are illustrated by means of numerical or experimental results. Several exact or approximate methods are used and compared together in such a way it is possible, in a given situation, to choose the most efficient approach for calculating the radiation patterns. Such easy calculations prove to be useful in coupling optimisation of laser beams to whisker detectors or mixers.
