Anisotropy of Magnetization and Nanocrystalline Texture in Electrodeposited CeO2 Films
Résumé
Magnetic properties of textured CeO2(111) thin films produced by electrodeposition on SiO2/Si(001) substrates exhibiting room-temperature ferromagnetism and a strong perpendicular anisotropy of the saturation magnetization are reported and discussed. Our results indicate that these effects are directly related to the texture and the presence of oxygen vacancies V-O. Magnetization and the anisotropy of magnetization increase for films with higher V-O concentration, which is correlated with the ordering of oxygen vacancy pairs V-O-V-O along the < 111 > crystallographic axes. Our findings are supported by supercell band structure calculations. (C) 2010 The Electrochemical Society. [DOI: 10.1149/1.3532940] All rights reserved.
