              <p>The [i]Virtual-grassland[/i] model aims at simulating the change with time of the specific composition, yield, and forage quality of sown grasslands, in response to water availability, nitrogen management (fertilization, presence of legumes) and defoliation. It simulates the competition and facilitation interactions (for radiation and soil resources) between the canopy components through the interconnection of four modules (grasses, legumes, soil and radiation transfer). Preliminary evaluations of the model suggest a fair estimate of the responses to water and radiation.</p>

              <p>Le modèle de «Virtual grassland » vise à prédire l’évolution de la composition spécifique, du rendement et de la qualité des prairies semées en réponse à la disponibilité en eau et à la gestion de l’azote (fertilisation, présence de légumineuses) et de la défoliation. Il simule les interactions de compétition et la facilitation (rayonnement, ressources du sol) entre les composantes du couvert au travers du couplage de quatre modules (graminées, légumineuses, sol, transfert radiatif). Les évaluations préliminaires du modèle suggèrent le bon comportement qualitatif des réponses au rayonnement et à la disponibilité en eau.</p>
