Terpyridine-Based Heteroditopic Ligand for Ru(II)Ln(3)(III) Metallostar Architectures (Ln = Gd, Eu, Nd, Yb) with MRI/Optical or Dual-Optical Responses

Résumé

New tetranuclear heterobimetallic complexes RuIIL3Ln3III, where L is an original ditopic ligand, have been successfully synthesized. In aqueous solutions and under biological relevant conditions, RuL3Gd3 assembly retains exploitable 3MLCT emission characteristics of the Ru(II) moiety for luminescence imaging and displays a high relaxivity for the Gd(III) components (r1310K = 51.0 mM−1 s−1 per metallostar at 20 MHz). RuL3Eu3, RuL3Yb3, and RuL3Nd3 architectures may act as dual optical sensors in the visible or visible/near-IR regions.
