Non-contact measurement of the deformation of knitted fabrics under the influence of the variations of climatic conditions

Résumé

The natural textile materials are highly hygroscopic, Their dimensions change under the influence of the variation of climatic conditions. The cotton presents three grouping OH for every elements glucose which constitutes. This characteristic offers a very hydrophilic behavior engendering a morphological change of materials and a rustle of their surface states. In this work, we used a digital X-ray imaging system to measure the behavior of a knitting cotton Jersey ready-to-wear clothing under the influence of the variations of climatic conditions during a cycle of adsorption / desorption. In this paper, we present the experimental device used to acquire the digital images which are analyzed to determine the deformation of samples. A study of the sorption kinetics is presented to determine the duration from which the samples can be considered at equilibrium.
