Experiments With An Artificial Mouth For Trumpet
Abstract
An artificial mouth with latex lips for trumpet-like
instruments has been built. Four-track simultaneous recordings have
been performed: acoustic pressure in the mouth, in the mouthpiece, and
in the bell as well as the lips' opening area. Moreover, visualisation and
filming of the lips' movement has been done. Results are analysed in order to
better understand the functioning of a brass instrument with the aim,
among others, of improving our real-time model of trumpet.
