Résumé

This work provides a computational model to predict the in-service deformation and stress of SiC based refractory used in waste to energy plant (WTE) linings. For this application, O2 and CaCl2 gas present in the atmosphere diffuse through the porosity and react with the refractory components producing SiO2 and CaSiO3 solids. These new phases clog gradually the pores and cause swelling of the material and as a result irreversible deformation of the lining. The thermo-chemo-mechanical model simulating these phenomena is summarized and the identification of some of the parameters is presented. The model is implementated in an industrial finite element code. The first numerical results show the ability of the model to reproduce qualitatively the swelling of post-mortem bricks from WTE linings.
